Hey, you weirdo!

After two weeks of low energy, beating myself up because I didn't realize I was sick, and also giving myself grace and slowing down, I've come out of the cave.

And discovered how to manage my super-fast, impulsive, distractible brain. Ha, ha!

  • Split activities into 30-minute chunks, focus on each one intently, and go AS FAST as possible.

The short timeframe + task switching keeps me focused.

Okay, so today, I'm sending you some quick tips to write your sci-fi world.

But first, your favorite part...

Fun Sci-fi Quiz: Do you know the answers?

1. Who kills Leon the replicant in 'Blade Runner'?

2. Who learns that the world has been taken over by apes in 'Planet of the Apes'?

3. What is Ripley's first name in 'Alien'?

Remember your answers. The truth'll be revealed at the end ;)

Three Tips to Write Your Sci-fi World

1. Know what your premise is

Before writing, decide on what you want your sci-fi story to be about.

Try asking yourself a what-if question, then exploring that in your book.

What's the vision you have in mind?
What message do you want your readers to walk away with?

2. Don't add too much detail

Your readers don't have to know how every nook and cranny works. This can slow the pace, confuse your readers, and mess up the flow.

Describe the world from your character's point of view. If they wouldn't care, don't overly describe it or mention it at all.

3. Be consistent

Duh, right? But deciding on your sci-fi world's rules and sticking to them is key.

  • Make sure rules are clear
  • Explain why a rule changes
  • Don't contradict yourself
